From the Driver’s Seat:

Erik Jones: “Daytona is a fun track and it’s a good change from what we do every week and kind of a wild card race overall. Our goal going in to it is to just make sure we aren’t getting caught up in a wreck, staying out of trouble and hopefully getting a solid finish out of it. It’s an opportunity for anyone to win and that is definitely our goal, to go up and grab a win and get ourselves locked in to the playoffs, but we also don’t need to get ourselves caught up in anything and put ourselves further behind. Daytona should be a good weekend.”

From the Pit Box:

Chris Gayle: “I thought Erik showed a lot of improvement in his superspeedway racing during the Daytona 500. Unfortunately we were caught up in a wreck at no fault of his. I really feel like we have made our superspeedway cars better and should be even more competitive at the Daytona summer event. However, just like all superspeedway races, a lot of how you finish is avoiding wrecks and staying in position until the late stages of the race. It’s something that’s really been a struggle over this season and last year. I believe the 2017 summer Daytona race has been the only superspeedway race that Erik and I have been able to finish in his six superspeedway starts. In our current point’s position, we really need to get thru this weekend with a solid run and gain some points on the cars in front of us. This is the biggest wildcard race over the next nine events until the playoffs start, so getting a little more points cushion to 16th from this event could really help us.”
